Auburn man killed in dirt bike crash

State police are investigating a dirt bike crash that claimed the life of a 33-year-old Auburn man in the Town of Onondaga on April 7.

Troopers from the Lafayette barracks responded to a report of a crash around 7:32 p.m. on a trail north of 4163 Tanner Road. The preliminary investigation found that Caleb T. Devoe was riding a 2011 Yamaha dirt bike when, for reasons still unknown, he left the trail and went down a five-foot embankment.

Bystanders discovered Devoe at the bottom of the embankment and called for help. While being transported by TLC Ambulance, he lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest. Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures, but Devoe was later pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
