A 57-year-old Ira man has been arrested on a felony charge of first-degree sexual abuse following an early morning investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that Thomas A. Crittenden II was taken into custody on March 17 after deputies responded to a call in the Town of Ira at approximately 2:51 a.m. Authorities say the investigation determined that Crittenden had engaged in sexual contact with another individual without their consent.
Following his arrest, Crittenden was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and arraigned in CAP court, where he was released on a $2,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ira Court on March 21 at noon.
The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Officials have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 253-1222 or submit tips anonymously through the department’s SaferWatch app.
