  • Staff Report

The Yates County Legislature is set to meet today at 1 p.m. to vote on a range of resolutions addressing infrastructure improvements, public health initiatives, and law enforcement agreements. The meeting, which will take place at 417 Liberty Street in Penn Yan, will also be accessible via Zoom.

Among the key issues on the agenda are several resolutions related to opioid settlement funds. Lawmakers will consider contracts with organizations such as the Finger Lakes Addiction Counseling and Referral Agency and Our Town Rocks to support housing, harm reduction, and educational services for those recovering from substance use disorders.

The legislature will also vote on multiple infrastructure projects, including awarding bids for asphalt paving, concrete culverts, and highway materials. A resolution is expected to approve a heavy equipment operator hire for the county highway department.

Additionally, the board will discuss law enforcement agreements, including a contract renewal for biometric jail identification technology and an inmate-holding agreement with Ontario County. Another resolution would authorize the sheriff to accept bids for vehicle towing services.

The meeting will also include a proclamation declaring March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day in Yates County.

Public comments will be accepted before voting begins. An executive session may be held if necessary.
