Trump’s approval steady after Congress speech, federal cuts continue

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

President Donald Trump’s approval rating saw little change following his address to Congress, with an ABC News/538 poll showing a slight dip from 47.8% to 47.6%. Meanwhile, CNN and CBS polls found that a majority of viewers approved of his speech, particularly on immigration and tariffs.

Trump’s approval rating has averaged 46% since returning to office, higher than his first term. His administration continues its push for government downsizing, canceling 19 federal office leases in New York as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, which has led to widespread layoffs and office closures nationwide.

Despite mixed public reactions, Trump and his allies view these measures as necessary cost-cutting reforms, with over 700 leases canceled across the country.
