Ithaca police arrested a man early Thursday after he allegedly robbed a business on South Cayuga Street.
Officers responded to the 200 block just before midnight on February 27 after receiving reports that a man had threatened an employee with an unknown weapon and handed over a note demanding cash from the register. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.
Shortly after, officers located a man matching the suspect’s description near the east end of the Commons and took him into custody without incident. The stolen cash was also recovered, police said.
Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Marcus J. Beane of Sodus, NY. He has been charged with third-degree robbery and was arraigned in Ithaca City Court before Judge Peacock. Beane was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
