The Village of Newark Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals will each hold meetings in March to review a request for a special use permit allowing a cannabis retail business to operate in the village.
The Planning Board is set to meet on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Court Room on the second floor of the Newark Municipal Building. The agenda includes approving previous meeting minutes and reviewing the application from LJ101, LLC. The company seeks approval to operate a retail business engaging in the transfer, distribution, or sale of cannabis at 6740-6744 Route 31 East, in a space within Building #3144-0012, Suite #3144-0011. The property is located in a Highway Business District (B-3) and falls under Tax Account Number 69111-00-258218.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will hold its hearing on the same project a week later, on March 10, also at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Court Room. Like the Planning Board, the ZBA will approve previous meeting minutes before discussing the special use permit request. The proposed cannabis retail location would be regulated under Chapter 170, Article XVI of the Village Code and Local Law No. 2 of 2024.
Both meetings will begin with a workshop at 6 p.m. before moving into official business at 6:30 p.m.
