Delgado hints at future run after splitting from Hochul

Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado reaffirmed his interest in staying in office despite announcing he won’t seek reelection alongside Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2026. Speaking at a political event, he emphasized his commitment to connecting with New Yorkers but did not specify his next move.

Delgado’s decision has fueled speculation about a possible gubernatorial run. He recently registered as a statewide candidate but has not declared for any office. Hochul’s team has already begun searching for a new running mate.

While distancing himself from criticism of Hochul, Delgado stressed the need for leadership focused on integrity and compassion. For now, he remains focused on engaging with the public rather than making campaign decisions.
