New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado announced Friday that he will not run for re-election alongside Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2026. Delgado, who took office in May 2022 after Brian Benjamin resigned amid bribery charges, said he remains committed to finishing his term.
Hochul’s administration responded swiftly, stating she was already searching for a new running mate and reallocating Delgado’s duties to prevent neglect of key initiatives. Her communications director suggested Delgado had shown little interest in the role.
Delgado, a former congressman, has not ruled out future political opportunities, stating that “all options are on the table.”
