A Naples man was arrested on February 15 for driving while intoxicated after police stopped his vehicle on North Avenue.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, officers responded to a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver traveling toward the village on Route 54. Officers located the vehicle on North Avenue and conducted a traffic stop after observing violations of state vehicle and traffic laws.
The driver, identified as 60-year-old Jerry L. Busby, displayed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. After failing standardized field sobriety tests, Busby was taken into custody and transported to Soldiers & Sailors Hospital, where he voluntarily submitted to a blood draw to determine his blood alcohol content.
Busby was charged with driving while intoxicated, driver’s view obstructed, and failure to use headlamps in inclement weather. He was issued traffic tickets and released, with a court appearance scheduled at a later date.
