A Cayuga County woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after deputies found her stopped in the middle of a roadway late Saturday night.
According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically near State Street Road and Robinson Road in the Town of Throop at approximately 9:30 p.m. on February 15. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle stationary in the middle of the road, occupied by 26-year-old Monica N. Lucio of Mentz.
Following an investigation, deputies took Lucio into custody for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Public Safety Building, where a breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.19%, more than twice the legal limit. As a result, she was charged with aggravated DWI: Per Se – No Prior, DWI first offense, and multiple traffic violations.
Lucio was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Throop Town Court on February 25 at 6:00 p.m. Authorities encourage anyone with information related to the case to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
