  • Staff Report

Emergency responders in Cayuga County were dispatched to the scene of a truck rollover near the intersection of Goose Street and Route 90 on Sunday morning.

According to the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, the crash occurred just after 8 a.m. Cayuga County 911 alerted Genoa Rescue and Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc. (SCIA) to the accident. When first responders arrived, they confirmed the rollover and requested additional personnel, while Locke Fire & Rescue was called in to divert traffic at Creek Road and NY 90.

The driver of the truck was able to exit the vehicle without assistance and was uninjured, allowing Genoa Rescue to take a sign-off and release SCIA from the scene. Engine 2 remained on-site to secure the vehicle for hazards, while the trucking company arrived within 30 minutes to assess the situation.

Around an hour into the response, King Ferry Fire Department and SCIA were dispatched to a separate medical emergency in the district. Genoa Car 1 and EMS personnel cleared the accident scene to assist with that call.

The response effort was supported by the New York State Police and Ron’s Towing. Emergency crews remained on scene until shortly after 12:30 p.m.
