Stern & Stern Industries, a Hornell-based manufacturer of high-tech woven fabrics, is modernizing its operations with a $236,758 state grant. The company, which supplies materials for aerospace, aviation, and semiconductor industries, will use the funds to upgrade decades-old looms, increasing efficiency and production capacity.

The new equipment will streamline operations, making machines easier to operate and repair while allowing for faster employee training. Stern & Stern, which has been in Hornell since 1889, expects the investment to create new jobs and sustain its reputation for high-quality materials used worldwide.

With business booming, the company is moving quickly to implement the changes, reinforcing its long-standing role in critical industries like space exploration and jet engine manufacturing.
