Terrance Hines, an Auburn resident, alleges his felony drug charges are retaliation for his wife’s $50 million lawsuit against Cayuga County, according to reporting by The Citizen this week.
His attorney argues the timing of Hines’ indictment—nearly two years after his arrest—suggests selective prosecution. However, Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci dismissed the claims and said the case against him is legitimate.
Hines was arrested in 2022 after a drug-related search but wasn’t indicted until June 2024, months after his wife, Sara Hines, sued the county for alleged civil rights violations.
His trial is set to begin in April.
