Micron’s environmental impact report for its planned chip plant in Clay will now be released June 25, according to CNY Central. The report is a required step before construction can begin, and it will launch a 45-day public comment period.
Environmental advocate Dr. Rhea Jezer says Micron has so far engaged with local feedback but now must prove it’s serious about protecting air, water, and land. She encourages the public to focus on everyday concerns like water and electricity use when reviewing the report.
The report is expected to span hundreds of pages and cover ecological, historical, and economic impacts. Micron aims to break ground on its semiconductor facility by late November or early December.
