Cayuga County’s government operations committee to discuss veterans outreach, e-poll books

  • Staff Report

The Cayuga County Government Operations Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 4:00 p.m. in the Karpinski Room of the Ward O’Hara Agricultural Museum in Auburn. Legislator Brian Muldrow, the committee’s chair, will oversee the session, which includes departmental updates and a key resolution related to election technology.

The County’s Information Technology Department will highlight multiple ongoing infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, a county-wide domain migration to .gov, and improvements to access control systems at government buildings. Notably, recent IT achievements include successfully setting up new employment sites and enhancing onboarding procedures to streamline operations.

The Veterans Services Office will report on various initiatives, including the continuation of wellness activities such as monthly veterans’ breakfasts in Fair Haven and a series of outreach programs aimed at increasing support for veterans in the county. Plans for significant events in 2025, including a Vietnam War commemoration and a tribute ride, are also on the agenda.

A major item for resolution involves approving the purchase of E-poll Books from Robis Elections, Inc., to modernize voting infrastructure ahead of the 2025 elections. If passed, the resolution will authorize Cayuga County to use a state grant to fund the acquisition of new electronic polling devices, which will replace outdated equipment.

The meeting will be live-streamed on YouTube, providing remote access for residents to observe the proceedings.
