Seneca County supervisors to address salary stipend, redevelopment efforts, and funding corporation appointment

  • Staff Report

Two special committee meetings of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors are set to take place on Tuesday focusing on key administrative and development issues.

The Human Resources and Government Operations Committee, chaired by Supervisor Borst, will meet at 3:30 p.m. to introduce Local Law “B” of 2025. This law proposes a salary stipend of $2,500 per pay period for the Board Chairman during any vacancy in the County Manager position. The stipend would compensate for increased administrative responsibilities and will remain in effect until 30 days after a new County Manager is appointed. A public hearing on the law is scheduled for February 25.

At 4:00 p.m., the Economic Development, Tourism, and Housing (EDTH) Committee, chaired by Supervisor J. Trout, will review several major projects. Updates are expected on the redevelopment of the former Willard Psychiatric Center, the rebuilding efforts in Ovid, and progress with the Seneca County Local Development Corporation (LDC). Additionally, the committee will address infrastructure concerns and outline next steps for its strategic goals.

The EDTH Committee will also vote on the appointment of Ralph Lott to the Seneca County Funding Corporation’s Board of Directors, replacing outgoing member Steve Brusso. The funding corporation plays a key role in issuing bonds for private-sector projects that drive local economic growth.

Both meetings will provide an opportunity for the Supervisors to tackle pressing issues and advance key initiatives aimed at strengthening county operations and economic development.
