Trump proposes U.S. control of Gaza amid global criticism

President Donald Trump reaffirmed his plan for U.S. ownership of the Gaza Strip, envisioning it as a long-term redevelopment project. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he suggested relocating Palestinians to other countries while transforming Gaza into a “beautiful piece of land.” Trump hinted at leveraging U.S. aid to secure cooperation from Egypt and Jordan.

Experts warned the plan risks diplomatic fallout and ethical concerns, with the UN denouncing forced displacement as “ethnic cleansing.” Middle East analyst Gordon Gray noted that while Israel might benefit, relocation and rebuilding costs would likely face U.S. taxpayer resistance. Egypt and Jordan have rejected hosting refugees.

Trump’s proposal faces strong international and domestic opposition over its practicality and humanitarian implications.
