Tuesday night delivered a 14-game slate of Wayne-Finger Lakes high school basketball.
Waterloo grabbed the spotlight as senior Cameron Jacobs scored 33 points and made 10 three-pointers to set the school record, propelling the Tigers to their seventh consecutive victory. Meanwhile, the Geneva boys held off Newark for a tight win after nearly surrendering an 11-point lead in the final three minutes of regulation.

The Panthers got off to a dominant start, building a 19-6 lead after the first quarter, and went up by as many as 16 in the second before the Reds closed the gap to 33-26 at halftime. Geneva led 43-37 after three and held a 57-46 edge in the final three minutes of regulation, but Newark’s Blake Steve hit a three-pointer from the corner, sparking a rally that cut the Panthers lead to two twice in the final 41 seconds. However, Xavier Praylor, DePatrick Overstreet, and Andrew Green combined to go 5-for-6 from the free-throw line to help Geneva seal the win. The Reds did have one last chance, but Jahnor Allen’s potential game-tying three-pointer from the top of the key was well-contested, and the shot fell short.
