Authorities say a Steuben County woman was taken into custody on serious charges after illegally charging more than $100,000 to her employer’s credit card.

Deborah J. McClellan, 51, was arrested for allegedly making over $108,000 in unauthorized purchases using her employer’s fuel card. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest on January 30, charging her with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony.

The investigation began in June 2024 when Elmira Structures Inc. in Horseheads reported McClellan’s termination over fraudulent activity. Authorities found she had made illegal transactions at various local businesses.

McClellan was processed in Horseheads Town Court and released, pending a future appearance in Big Flats Town Court.
