A Clyde resident was arrested Friday for grand larceny following an investigation into fraudulent checks totaling $7,660.

William B. Brownlee, 40, was taken into custody at his home on Sodus Street. Authorities say Brownlee wrote three checks on a closed account between November 14 and December 30, 2024, targeting the Canandaigua Federal Credit Union. He was charged with grand larceny.

After his arrest, Brownlee was transported to the Ontario County Jail and arraigned at CAP Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.
