Canandaigua couple arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A local couple was arrested early Sunday after a traffic stop led Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies to discover controlled substances in their vehicle.

Lori A. McDonald, 39, and Anthony J. McDonald, 35, both of Jefferson Avenue in Canandaigua, were taken into custody on McCann Road and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

In addition to the drug charges, Lori McDonald was issued several traffic citations, including failure to use a turn signal, operating a vehicle without a front license plate, not having operational plate lamps, unlicensed operation, aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without a court-ordered interlock device, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container.

Anthony McDonald was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Both were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Town of Canandaigua Court at a later date.
