Tompkins County focuses on homelessness, major projects for 2025

Tompkins Legislature Chair Dan Klein highlighted homelessness and key infrastructure projects in the 2025 State of the County address.

Plans include starting construction on a permanent homeless shelter and advancing designs for a government center and jail renovations.

Broadband expansion remains stalled as the county awaits state grant approval, while illegal cannabis sales and potential Industrial Development Agency board changes are also on the agenda.

Klein expressed optimism about strengthening partnerships with the City of Ithaca, Cornell, and Ithaca College to tackle local housing and homelessness challenges.
