Court denies Greenidge’s request to halt DEC permit review

New York State Supreme Court Justice Vincent Dinolfo denied Greenidge Generation’s request to delay the Department of Environmental Conservation’s administrative review of its air permit renewal.

The review follows Dinolfo’s November ruling that DEC improperly denied the permit but retained the authority to do so under New York’s Climate Act.

Greenidge plans to appeal the decision, arguing the DEC erred in its analysis under the Climate Act. DEC and environmental groups opposed the stay, while Greenidge President Dale Irwin criticized the process, citing the impact on upstate workers and calling for fairness.
