The Buffalo Sabres fell short in a 6-4 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Monday afternoon at Climate Pledge Arena.
Despite a strong offensive effort, the Sabres (17-24-5) have now dropped three of their last four games. Tage Thompson led Buffalo with a goal and an assist, while Peyton Krebs added two assists. Devon Levi, making his first start since December 15, recorded 28 saves.
Jack Quinn opened the scoring for Buffalo at 5:07 of the first period with a deflected shot off Jared McCann’s stick. However, Seattle quickly responded 27 seconds later to tie the game. The Kraken pulled ahead in the second period, but Jason Zucker’s power-play goal and Thompson’s tally late in the frame tied it 3-3.
Seattle regained the lead just 56 seconds later and extended their advantage in the third period. Alex Tuch gave Buffalo hope with a late goal at 18:39, but McCann sealed the game with an empty-netter moments later.
The Sabres look to return to the win column on Tuesday when they visit the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m.
