Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, representing New York’s 24th Congressional District, has been appointed to the prestigious House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). The committee, established in 1977, oversees the United States Intelligence Community, including military intelligence operations.

In a statement released on Thursday, Tenney expressed her commitment to bolstering national security through her new role. “I am honored to serve on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for the 119th Congress and thank Speaker Johnson for this prestigious appointment,” she said. Highlighting critical assets in her district, including Fort Drum, the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, and Rome Lab, Tenney pledged to advocate for the resources and support needed to maintain and enhance these vital defense facilities.

The appointment comes as the U.S. faces escalating global threats, from conflicts abroad to challenges posed by China and domestic terrorism. House Speaker Mike Johnson underscored the importance of HPSCI’s oversight in safeguarding the nation while upholding constitutional principles. “The mission of our intelligence community is vitally important in an increasingly dangerous world,” Johnson said. “Congress must conduct thorough oversight to ensure we are protecting the American people and our national interests.”

Tenney also emphasized the necessity of strong intelligence systems to address complex modern challenges. “I look forward to working with President Trump, Speaker Johnson, HPSCI Chairman Crawford, and my colleagues to strengthen our defense capabilities and ensure effective oversight of our nation’s intelligence operations,” she added.

The appointment of Tenney underscores her influence in shaping national security policy during a pivotal period for U.S. defense and intelligence operations. Her work on the committee is expected to focus on fortifying resources in New York while addressing international and domestic security threats.
