A Penn Yan man is facing charges following an alleged domestic incident involving his 12-year-old child in the Town of Seneca.
Chris Alan Martin, 59, was arrested by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 7:12 p.m. on Thursday at 2941 State Route 5 and 20. Authorities said the arrest stemmed from an incident earlier that day near State Route 245 and Old Mill Road, where Martin allegedly struck his child in the head multiple times with a closed fist.
Following the investigation, Martin was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the child did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Martin was taken to the Ontario County Centralized Arraignment Court, where he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Court at a later date.
Authorities have not released additional details about the incident or potential follow-up investigations.
