The Newfield Central School District enters the second half of the school year with STAR testing, facility upgrades, and a superintendent search underway.
STAR assessments in reading and math will measure student growth and guide teaching strategies. Infrastructure projects, including new elementary school doors and bus garage upgrades, will enhance safety and operations. A larger $21 million capital project is set to begin in May, pending state approval.
Superintendent Eric Hartz will retire at the end of the school year, with a replacement expected to be appointed by April. Budget planning for 2025-26 is also in progress, with public forums scheduled in March and April.
