Mayor Mike Sweet announced plans to appoint an officer in charge to oversee day-to-day operations while the village works with Steuben County to review eligible candidates for the chief position. If the current candidate list proves insufficient, the search will expand.

An interim officer in charge is expected to be named shortly, ensuring continuity and stability as Bath moves forward with selecting its next police chief.
