Man arrested in Steuben County for menacing with a knife and violating family laws

A Steuben County man was arrested after allegedly threatening someone with a knife during a domestic incident in Painted Post, authorities said Monday.


Robert J. Porter, 32, was taken into custody on December 30 following an investigation by Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies. Officials allege Porter threatened another person with a knife and had a prior conviction for a designated family offense.

Porter was charged with aggravated family offense, a class E felony, and menacing in the second degree. He was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released on $250 cash bail​.
