Waterloo Trustee Gina Suffredini announced she will not seek reelection in March after serving three terms, citing a desire to spend more time with her family, including her new grandson.

The Finger Lakes Times reports that Suffredini, the board’s only Democrat, expressed pride in her contributions over the past 12 years and encouraged others to step up in her place.

Meanwhile, Republican Trustee John Butlak confirmed he will run for a fourth term, emphasizing his experience and commitment to ongoing projects like the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and addressing village flooding issues.

The village election is scheduled for March 18, with Democrats selecting candidates via caucus and Republicans through petitions.
