  • Staff Report

A man was arrested following a violent incident at a Canandaigua residence involving allegations of burglary, attempted rape, and unlawful imprisonment. Authorities identified the suspect as 55-year-old Brian E. VanCaeseele of Palmyra.

Police say VanCaeseele unlawfully entered the victim’s home between December 13 and 14, 2024, where he allegedly prevented them from leaving for approximately eight hours and attempted unwanted sexual contact. A prior order of protection was in place against him at the time.

VanCaeseele was taken to Ontario County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court, and remanded without bail pending a future court appearance.
