Linda Rosa, a 71-year-old retired MTA worker, bravely fought off four teenage girls attempting to rob her at a Brooklyn subway station on New Year’s Day. The attack occurred at Hoyt Street station as Rosa exited the No. 3 train on her way to church.
One teen tried to snatch her purse, and despite being punched in the face and losing her glasses, Rosa resisted. The teens stole a pouch containing her ID and medical records, but Rosa fought back, grabbing two attackers by the hair and calling for help before they fled.
Rosa, treated at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, expressed gratitude for her safety and forgave the teens, calling their actions youthful foolishness. The NYPD has released footage of the suspects, who remain at large.
