The Lurie Cup charity soccer tournament brought over 60 players from Steuben County to the Corning Family YMCA on December 28 to support Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
Founded in 2022 by Corning-Painted Post High School senior Roham Amin, the event honors the hospital where he underwent life-saving surgery as a child. The tournament featured 12 teams, with participants spanning middle school to adulthood.
Returning players praised the cause, emphasizing their commitment to supporting Amin’s mission. Last year’s event raised over $4,000, and Amin hopes to surpass that total this year, with plans to continue the tradition in December 2025.
