A head-on collision on State Route 34 in Barton Friday afternoon left three people dead and two others injured, according to New York State Police. An SUV carrying four passengers crossed into the opposite lane and struck a pickup truck.
The 68-year-old pickup driver and two SUV passengers, a 41-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman from the Bronx, were killed. The SUV driver, a 42-year-old Bronx woman, remains in critical condition, while a front-seat passenger, a 56-year-old Bronx man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are investigating and have not yet released the victims’ names.
