DEC delays decision on landfill expansion

The Department of Environmental Conservation has pushed back its response to Seneca Meadows Inc.’s landfill expansion proposal to December 20. The plan includes a 70-foot height increase and 47 more acres, potentially extending operations until 2040.

The DEC assured the public it will address concerns and enforce regulations to protect health and the environment. A public comment period and hearings will be announced once the draft is finalized.

Seneca Falls officials hired consultants to aid their review.
