Fire crews rescued one person and extinguished a basement fire Friday in Seneca Falls that drew multiple departments and emergency agencies to the scene.
The fire broke out on Joanne Avenue, with first responders dispatched and on the road within a minute. According to reports from Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire, units arrived within two minutes and were met with heavy fire in the basement area. Firefighters from Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Fayette, Clyde, Canoga, and Geneva worked quickly to bring the situation under control.
One person was rescued from the structure by fire crews during the response. The fire was under control within 45 minutes, but crews remained on site for extensive overhaul to ensure no remaining hot spots.
Along with the multiple fire departments, North Seneca Ambulance, law enforcement agencies, fire investigators, codes officials, NYSEG, and the Red Cross provided support at the scene.
