Baseball Hall of Famer and Chicago Cubs icon Ryne Sandberg announced on Dec. 10 that his prostate cancer has relapsed and spread to other organs. Sandberg shared the update on Instagram, saying he has resumed intensive treatment and remains determined to fight the disease.
The 64-year-old first revealed his cancer diagnosis in January, expressing gratitude for the support of his family, friends, and medical team. The Cubs have publicly backed Sandberg, rallying around him with messages of strength and hope.
Sandberg, a 10-time All-Star and 1984 NL MVP, played for the Cubs from 1982 to 1997. He remains a goodwill ambassador for the team, continuing his connection with the franchise and its fans.
