Finger Lakes Community College student-athletes Payton Stoddard and Joao Antonio Rocha have been named NJCAA Division III Second Team All-Americans following historic performances in their respective sports. Stoddard, from Bloomfield, N.Y., led the Lakers’ women’s volleyball team to new heights, while Rocha, from Sergipe, Brazil, had a record-breaking season for the men’s soccer program.
Stoddard capped her volleyball career as the most accomplished setter in FLCC history, setting program records for career assists (1,725) and single-season service aces. Her sophomore year accolades include Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Player of the Year, 1st-Team All-Conference, and NJCAA Region III All-Tournament honors. Over two seasons, she helped secure two Region III championships and NJCAA National Tournament appearances.
Rocha became just the third men’s soccer All-American in FLCC history, earning recognition for his 27-assist season, which led the nation and set program records for both single-season and career assists. The sophomore midfielder concluded his career with 20 goals, 32 assists, and 72 points, helping the Lakers clinch their first Region III title and national tournament berth.
