A Sterling resident was arrested on November 10 on multiple felony charges related to a 2019 welfare fraud investigation.
James R. Williams Jr. was taken into custody by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps, and offering a false instrument for filing.
Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that Williams allegedly defrauded the Cayuga County Department of Social Services.
He was processed at the Public Safety Building, arraigned in CAP Court, and later released.
