CANDIDATES FORUM: Cayuga Co. Family Court contest pits Buschman vs. Garland (webcast)

This Election Day, Cayuga County voters will have the chance to select a judge for a newly established Family Court seat, a position created earlier this year by the New York State Legislature. The role carries a 10-year term, and candidates Steven Buschman, ESQ (R & C) and Hon. Kristin Garland (D) are vying for the post.

In keeping with tradition for judicial races, candidates are given a platform to introduce themselves to voters without facing questions. Both Buschman and Garland will have up to five minutes each to present their backgrounds and vision for the court, providing insight for voters as they consider this significant addition to the county’s judiciary. The webcast was streamed by Cayuga Community College’s media department and hosted by Guy Cosentino on Inside Government.

The new Family Court judge will play a vital role in addressing cases affecting families and children in the region, underscoring the importance of this election.
