Everett W. Thompson III, 34, was reportedly seen on the roof of the residence when deputies arrived. Following negotiations, Thompson came down peacefully, officials reported.

According to a press release, interviews with residents revealed a history of domestic issues between Thompson and a woman at the residence, who had a standing order of protection against him. Additionally, deputies learned that Thompson, who was already on probation from a prior incident, had allegedly attempted to break into a room within the garage using a hatchet.

Thompson was subsequently charged with aggravated family offense, a felony, as well as criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt, both misdemeanors. After being processed, he was transported to Cayuga County Jail, where he was held without bail.
