Corning awarded grant to improve Denison Park water quality

The City of Corning has received a $632,600 grant to enhance water quality in Denison Park. The funding, part of the 2024 Small Watershed Implementation Grant, will be used to design and install green stormwater infrastructure starting this fall, with completion expected by spring 2026.

City officials said the project responds to ongoing complaints about the park’s pond and drainage issues. Planned improvements include rain gardens, permeable pavement, and tree planting.

The total project cost is $712,600, with support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
