Authorities have charged a local woman with endangering the welfare of a child after her three-month-old child was found in critical condition. Grace A. Shepard, 27, was arrested on October 9 following an investigation into a 911 call she made on October 2, reporting that her infant was going in and out of consciousness.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside Child Protective Services, AMR Ambulance, and the Children’s Advocacy Center, conducted a thorough investigation. The child was evaluated by medical professionals and has since been placed into foster care. Shepard is accused of providing inadequate care for the child.
Shepard was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Aurelius Court at a later date.
