The Canandaigua City School District is proposing a $70.2 million capital project aimed at upgrading facilities across the district—all without additional cost to taxpayers. Superintendent Jamie Farr will present details and engage with the public at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Operations Center, 5500 Airport Road.
Scheduled for a Dec. 3 vote, the project plans to utilize $13.4 million from a capital reserve fund, with the remainder covered by state building aid. If approved, construction would occur in phases from 2025 to 2028, focusing on renovations at primary, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as the operations center.
Upgrades include new playgrounds, air conditioning in cafeterias, athletic facility enhancements, and infrastructure improvements district-wide. Notably, the high school plans a new turf baseball and softball complex on school-owned property, relocating from Veterans Administration land. “We’ve prioritized essential projects from a $150 million facilities survey,” Farr said, emphasizing the strategic phasing of the work.
