With the start of cold and flu season coinciding with children heading back to school, Rochester Regional Health (RRH) is preparing for an increase in demand for urgent care services across the Finger Lakes region. As healthcare providers see a rise in common illnesses like ear infections, bronchitis, strep throat, and the flu, as well as an uptick in sports-related injuries, RRH is offering multiple options to meet the needs of local families.
RRH offers three main types of urgent care services designed for convenience and flexibility. In-person urgent care centers are open daily throughout the region, equipped to handle a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Patients can visit these centers for treatment of seasonal colds, flu, infections, and minor injuries, with additional services such as vaccinations, X-rays, and physical exams available on-site. RRH’s website provides an easy way to check wait times and find the nearest location.
For those who prefer to receive care from the comfort of home, RRH’s Same-Day Virtual Urgent Care has expanded its hours, offering extended availability seven days a week. Patients can connect with expert providers via smartphone or computer, with an average wait time of just 15 minutes. This service is ideal for managing cold and flu symptoms, minor infections, and other non-emergency conditions without having to visit a clinic in person.
Student-athletes returning to sports often face injuries such as sprains, fractures, and strains. To address these needs, RRH has established two dedicated Orthopedic Urgent Care centers in Victor and Henrietta. These specialized facilities provide walk-in care without the need for an appointment, ensuring patients can access expert orthopedic care quickly and efficiently, bypassing the longer wait times often associated with emergency rooms.
“Rochester Regional Health offers patients easy and convenient access to care where and when they need it most,” said Mary Parlet, RRH Chief Ambulatory and Clinical Services Officer. “We understand that many patients prefer to avoid busy hospital emergency rooms, which can involve long wait times. That’s why we continue to expand our urgent care options to serve the community close to where they live, work, and play.”
RRH has urgent care locations across the region, including Batavia, Brighton, Canton, Chili, Geneseo, Greece, Henrietta, Penfield, Potsdam, Webster, and the City of Rochester. Within the city, patients can visit the St. Mary’s Campus or the Wilson Multicultural Medical Campus for urgent care services. For those in need of orthopedic care, walk-in services are available at the dedicated Orthopedic Urgent Care centers in Victor and Henrietta.
