Josh Allen threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Buffalo Bills to a 34-28 season-opening victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
Buffalo trailed 10-0 through the first 16 minutes of the game and 17-3 with 2:46 left in the second quarter but scored 21 unanswered points to take the lead late in the third quarter and never looked back despite Arizona making a late push.
Allen completed 18 of his 23 passes for 232 yards and two TDs, both of which came in the third quarter. He also ran for a seven-yard TD and a six-yard score.
Mack Hollins hauled in the game-tying TD and Khalil Shakir put Buffalo ahead. Keon Coleman led all receivers with 51 yards on four catches. James Cook had 71 rushing yards on 19 carries.
Tyler Bass converted on both of his field goal attempts, making one from 37 yards and the other from 39 yards.
Terrel Bernard led all defenders with 11 tackles and Greg Rousseau added in 3.0 sacks and a forced fumble.
