The Fran Brown era started with a bang as Syracuse picked up a 38-22 victory over Ohio in the 2024 season opener on Saturday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Kyle McCord did not disappoint in his Syracuse debut, completing 27 of his 39 passes for a career-high 354 passing yards and a career-high four passing touchdowns.
Oronde Gadsden II led all Cuse receivers with seven catches for 108 yards, including a touchdown. Trebor Pena, who hadn’t found the endzone since 2021, scored three times (two receiving and one rushing).
LeQuint Allen ran the ball 15 times for 98 yards and added a receiving touchdown.
Fadil Diggs shined on the defensive side, totaling eight tackles and two sacks. Alijah Clarke recorded a team-high nine tackles. Marlowe Wax suffered a foot injury in the third quarter and was later seen with crutches.
The Orange improved to 10-1 in its last 11 season openers and 10-2 in its last 12 home openers.
