Two people were charged with endangering the welfare of a child after Ontario County deputies said they overdosed outside a Phelps home while a 10-year-old was inside.
Deputies and New York State Police responded to a report of a man and woman unconscious at a Thompson Station property at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, September 21, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said they found Desaray Marcano, 34, unconscious in the passenger seat of her car and Jeffrey Moore, 32, unconscious on a lawn mower in the front yard.
Investigators determined that both had suffered opioid overdoses, the sheriff's office said.
Both were treated and released from a local hospital before being taken into custody on the child-endangerment charge; the release did not provide a court date or information about who cared for the child.
Phelps Ambulance, North Seneca Ambulance and the Oaks Corners Fire Department assisted at the scene.
