NYC Man Sentenced to Over 15 Years for Drug and Firearm Offenses

Rasheed Mingues, 45, of New York City, was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm possession as a convicted felon. The sentence follows Mingues’ guilty plea, in which he admitted to distributing over 100 grams of methamphetamine and 30 grams of fentanyl in the Utica area between April and October 2022. On December 9, 2022, authorities found Mingues in possession of over 700 grams each of fentanyl and methamphetamine, over 100 grams of cocaine, and a loaded 9mm handgun in the same bag.

As a previously convicted felon, Mingues was prohibited from possessing the firearm. Chief U.S. District Judge Brenda K. Sannes also sentenced Mingues to a 5-year term of supervised release following his prison term and ordered the forfeiture of the firearm.

The case was investigated by the DEA, New York State Police, and local law enforcement agencies, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica N. Carbone and Benjamin Gillis.
