Auburn Man Arrested After Fleeing Scene of Elbridge Accident That Injured Three

An Auburn man, Mitchell Podolak, faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that sent three people to the hospital late Monday night. According to state police, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 5 and Hamilton Road.

Podolak is accused of running a red light and striking a Honda Civic driven by 17-year-old Tanner Miller of Wolcott. Witnesses reported seeing Podolak flee the scene on Hamilton Road. He was later found hiding in a wooded area near Tessy Plastic by Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies, who utilized a helicopter to locate him.

After initially refusing to comply with deputies, Podolak was tased and subsequently arrested. He faces charges including Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, and various traffic violations. Podolak was taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center for arraignment.
